I Haven't  Seen the Roadster in Person Yet-
How Big is it?

Picture

The Roadster is sized similarly to a Porsche Cayman or Boxster and most comfortably fits heights between 5'2 and 6'5 for daily driving, with many owners ranging from 4'11- 6'7.

Because of the leg extended seating position, the Roadster has a lot of leg room and favors longer legs versus a longer torso for our taller drivers.

This driver to the left is 6'1.     The driver below is 6'4.

How Much Storage Space is There?

Picture
The trunk has been designed for daily driving to accommodate:
                   - an "overhead" wheeled carry-on bag
                   - 1 large bag of golf clubs or 2 sets in smaller travel bags
                   - 2 electric guitars in soft cases
                   - 5-6 large bags of groceries

The trunk also features a “false floor” with sufficient room to stow the included factory soft top when not in use.

The trunk is roughly oval with the following maximum approximate dimensions:
Width (56.2"), length (15.4") and depth  (9.92"), extending to (13.9") in the center.

Interior storage space for the Roadster includes:

- Under the center console for wallets, keys, and coins.

- Locking glove box for documents, snacks, gum etc.

- Retractable cup holder.

- Document shelf under the passenger seat.

- Storage slips on the far right and left consoles for driver and passenger cell phones.

Do Many Owners Use the Roadster as a Daily Driver?

Picture
Absolutely!

With the efficiency, performance, range capabilities, and storage capacities, most of Tesla Roadster owners use the Roadster as their daily driver.  The Tesla Roadster is the most convenient cars to own because you don't have to take any detours to the gas station, and with a car that is quicker than a Ferrari F430, only costs pennies per mile to charge, and qualifies for HOV Carpool lane stickers and tax credits, why drive anything else?

Why are there So Many Comparisons to the Lotus Elise?

Picture
The Tesla Roadster uses an extended Lotus Elise chassis, but as you can see in the comparison photos- they actually don't look very much alike at all!  The Roadster and the Elise do not share any body panels, as the Roadster is approximately 6 inches longer and about 4 inches wider than the Elise.

Lotus supplies chassis to several auto manufacturers.  Because Lotus is the pioneer in low volume,  lightweight and strong frame design, they were an ideal supplier for the Roadster chassis.

What Colors and Options Are Available?

Tesla Roadsters are built to order, so you can select options to meet your likes and needs.  Each Roadster is a standard convertible with a stow-away soft top roof and 110V Mobile Connector.

There are many options to chose from when building your Roadster: removable hardtop, interior colors, wheels, tires, stereo packages, performance packages, and interior and exterior carbon fiber accents.  These options are all selected through the Tesla Roadster Owners Area.  Your Tesla Client Services Representative can walk you through the Demo Owners Area if you'd like to have a better idea of final pricing.
